Interact Club of Bishop’s College - Installation of New Board 2013/14

The 33^rd Installation Ceremony for the new Board of the Interact Club of Bishop’s College for the year 2013/14 was held on 25^th September 2013 at the School Main Hall. The unusual and very pleasant décor set the mood to a wonderful afternoon of activity and comradeship.

The event was graced by Rtn Dayasiri Warnakulasuriya, President of Rotary Club of Colombo (RCC) for 2014/15, as the Chief Guest and Rtn Kaushik Udeshi, a Past President of the RCC, Ms Sharmila Gunatilleke, Our Principal, Mrs Cheryl Cooray, Our Vice Principal and the Staff Advisors along with Dr.Yusri Mohideen and DIR.Int.PP.Sandupuma Basnayake and his District Committee as well as Interactors from other Interact Clubs too were present to add verve and spirit to the day’s proceedings.

The welcome speech was delivered by Int Aindri Morahela, Chair of the Organizing Committee. Those present were entertained to a very popular song. Int Salma Razick, the Secretary for 2012/13 presented the annual report which was accompanied by a presentation of the several projects carried out by the Club showcasing the theme of the year 2012/13 - A thought. A change. A smile. Int Danushka Kadawatharatchi, the President for 2012/13 shared with us her experiences, the trials and tribulations they went through, and the joys and victories they gained from the activities.

The awards ceremony showed the appreciation of the dedication and hard work so caringly and earnestly put in by the committed Interactors of the closing year. The speech by the incoming President was given by Int Salma Razick. Then came the much looked forward to event of the day – the Installation of the new Board.

This was a truly memorable evening. Handing over the reins, the Outgoing President Int Dhanushka lit the symbolic candle and each new office bearer passed on the flame to the next until the whole new Board was alive and connected, lit brightly with plans and expectations for the forthcoming year. It set the tone for our club to commence on a journey towards fresh achievements, in the new year’s theme - A Perfect Imperfection.
